		<abstract>The present study aimed to develop an anemometric data qualification algorithm and characterize the annual and seasonal wind resource patterns for data acquisition sites located in Brazil. Anemometric data has been collected through the SONDA measurement site located at the São Martinho da Serra, central region of Rio Grande do Sul, and Petrolina, inner region of Pernambuco. The time series covers the period from 2007 to 2016. The qualification script was developed using MATLAB based on climatological data and WMO criteria. The annual wind resource patterns presented low seasonal and interannual variability in both measurement sites. Weibull distribution provided reliable values for shape (k) and scale (c) factors. The result showed that Petrolina presented good wind climate for electricity generation.</abstract>
